Well, first things first: the fight really is pretty awesome. Eva’s ‘Queen of Ice’ is practically cheating (Snowstorm of Darkness times sixteen? Really, Eva?), but with Asuna there cancelling everything out, Negi just has to go lightning and keep hammering at her.
Coincidentally, Eva falls for the exact same move Negi pulled on Rakan: the absorption ward. And unless there’s a typo, he just loaded the power of three spells — two of them High Ancient — into one arm.
But of course, it ends with a strip-sneeze. Damn, I honestly didn’t expect to see unfazed naked Eva again.
The rest of the chapter is Setsuna getting more and more devastated by the reveal, so I’d prefer not spoiling that just yet.
EDIT: I got an email asking me whether, in 342, Konoka’s line about Asuna should be:
“Asuna’s gotten used to handling Secchan, too…”
Looking at it again, this would be more accurate literally, but considering も can be ‘too/also’ as well as used to emphasise a marked difference, the ambiguity here (Konoka could be comparing Asuna to herself, to all other human beings in general, or just emphasising the degree to which she’s gotten used to something) I think this can be passed off as something Akamatsu did on purpose. I still probably shouldn’t have removed it completely from the translation, but there you have it.
