Eva killed the mage who turned her into a vampire right? Well, no, he(?)’s not dead. He(?) experimented on Eva to research immortality/undying, but he him(?)self is “indestructible”/”unceasing”. This mage failed twenty years ago thanks to Ala Rubra, and was barely sealed again ten years ago, through the sacrifice of the hero Nagi (probably?). This mage is now sleeping beneath the World Tree.

Yes, it’s the bloody Lifemaker.

(Oh, and Kaede’s up.)

  1. Not quite sure how to take this new revelation yet.

On one hand, it seems like a crapshoot to integrate Eva in to everything (since I’ve always thought her own story was separate from the rest), but on the other hand, it does make sense about her techniques being same as the Lifemakers.

Hope the raws will appear soon!

    • I’m having mixed feelings about involving Eva’s own little origin-story into the main plot too, but let’s see how it goes.

  2. I’ve been hoping for it. When Eva revealed her past to Asuna and Setsuna, it was so brief. She basically, in general terms, stated that she killed the one who turned her this way. However, even back then, I felt there was a lot more to the story. Combine that with the fact that she traveled with Ala Rubra and I was really hoping her story would get told somehow.

  3. Thanks for the translation, CanonRap.

About Eva killing the mage who turned her into a vampire, maybe just like Nagi in the war seemed to kill him but he regenerated. Or she just killed a flunky who drew the short straw in carrying out the experiment.

I’m more interested what was the purpose of transforming Eva into a vampire. We’ll find out in the next chapters.

And if the Lifemaker is immortal I wonder if Negi’s 9th combat spell, the one for exterminating high level demons, may be of use.

    • That was the difference Al pointed out.

      Eva is 不死, ‘without death’.

The Lifemaker is apparently 不滅, ‘without destruction/annihilation’.

Reading that part did make me think about Negi’s last spell as well.

  4. Any Idea on when the raw will be out?

  5. About the sacrifice of one Ala Ribra Memember to seal the Lifemaker, I do agree with the theory it’s Albiero himself. It would make sense that his current state of not being able to leave the World Tree beside when there is a high concentration of magic in the air would make sense if that was the case.

  6. It seems that my theory about the person who made Eva a vampire still being alive was right, though i didn’t expect him to be the “Lifemaker” (i posted about that on the AQS forums, but i can’t seem to find it yet though since i posted it a long while back).

  7. Errr no i think it’s nagi’s master. We clearly see his death and him being a thousand years old demon indicates that maybe it’s him who sacrificed himself

    • The sealing of Lifemaker happened 10 years ago, not 20.

  8. with this spoiler, the arc of finding clues about nagi become the stupid ending saga with nagi in mahora all the time every body knows were he was just don t tell his son. now with the lifemaker coming back to life is gonna be defeat with the help of eva, al, asuna new sword, and the massive pactio whit the rest of the class. nagi is gonna pop up magicaly and end of negima, it was one of my favorite series but with this stupid turns of event i gonna spare me this bullshit and leave this series rigth here. so the title of the movie really was the end of negima.

    • It has been confirmed that Akamatsu-sensei has at the very least another full-size arc before the end. The Movie is merely ‘The End’ of the Magic World Arc.

  10. So, several events in the past ended in this era. Its concluding that Asuna and Negi themselves are the key to seal LM once and forever (considering Negi have Vespertatia Royal Family blood).
And about Eva’s immortality, it seems its because LM existence. So, if LM’s sealed (or rather ‘killed’), she won’t have immortality again.
Al mentioned before that Nagi -although he didn’t knew where he is- is still alive, concluded that he (Nagi) and Arika(probably) seal LM body somewhere.

  11. So… here I come to my previous idea, that somehow, Eva is related to Arika. Not that they are the same, but they’re involved somehow in some twisted and strange plot.

But I really think it’s strange to mix the stories up at this point. Looks like Aka-sensei didn’t have thought of it when told Eva’s past, and now he wants to do it… let’s have hope XD

    Comment by Blind — May 9, 2011 @ 4:56 pm

    • Yeah, I think so…
Maybe he re-build the story about Eva’s past so he can synchronize it with whole story.
Or, he’s already planned it from beginning, and make it kooks like he didn’t planned it before…

  13. I think I saw this coming. Akamatsu is starting to wrap up loose ends, and the easiest way is to make them all related to each other. Hope he doesn’t get too lazy about it, but Negima as a whole (fanservice filler aside) has been anything but lazy work.

    Also, new theme! I likes.

  14. I’m thinking “the” Lifemaker was a group of people now. One went crazy and killed the others, and tried to sacrifice/experiment on a ten-year old girl to get immortality. The sacrifice/experiment didn’t go quite right, but the other bit worked. Twenty years before now, he finds out the world he and hid buddies made is falling apart, and finds he can’t fix it himself, because he ain’t (now spelling errors on ain’t?) got the juice for it alone. So he decides to say “screw this” and send everyone somewhere they don’t have to care about anything anymore forevermore. He gets Shoryukened, and decides to wait a few years before he tries again.

Apparently, ten years after the above, he does. Apparently, he gets Shoryuken’d again, but it’s a pyrrhic (spelling errors on pyrrhic though?) victory.

Ten years later, his buddies try again. In the process of failing due to time constraints, at the present.

Point is, he doesn’t seem to have really put too much thought into his solution, or, he just doesn’t care. Sending everyone to a place where the want for nothing because they have everything they may have wanted may leave them happy at first, but it’ll stagnate too. It’s a short-term solution being used in the long-term. Supposedly – we haven’t heard of any goals for after everyone’s stuck in dreamland (which, of course, would break their hearts because they’d lose what they wanted most, for starters. There’s more issues to deal with here.).

Why a group? Because, the strongest powers we’ve seen so far were Exhibits A): Nagi, punched out the Lifemaker, B): Evangeline, who can turn the temperature of a 150ft radius down to 0… Kelvin, C): Rakan, who I think takes the cake for shrugging off weaponized Retcon in order to bop Negi on the head, even if only for a few moments. As far as I know, none of these folks can create an entire freakin world, (alone, at least) or just haven’t tried so far – maybe because they aren’t insane, or have need of it. It doesn’t seem feasible that the Lifemaker can either.

I could continue if anyone wants, but I’ll cut this off for now. Too long as is, I think >_>
