314 full

Filed under: Updates — CanonRap @ 12:00 am

As a translator, it’s… interesting to think that the original author might be looking at the stuff you do.

Anyway, here is the full script of 314. All transcripts can be found here.

[The Story So Far: Ala Alba is on the brink of annihilation from the onslaught of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Fate, and the revival of Dunamis. Meanwhile, Negi is still unable to break out of the space between life and death.]

(Nagi) Is it okay,
(Nagi) To leave it like that?
(Nagi) Negi?
(Text) Under the dominion of the void, will the words of the father resonate – ?

(Negi) ……

(Negi) It’s like there’s a haze in my head…
(Negi) I can’t… remember a thing.

(Negi) But…
(Negi) But I…
(Negi) I…

(Negi) I get the feeling that,
(Negi) I can’t just stay still, not in a place like this.

(Tosaca) Ain’t that right.

Page 2

(Tosaca) If you’re the leading role in the spotlight,
(Tosaca) There’s a ‘stage’ you just can’t step down from.

(Rakan) Hey, yeah.

(Rakan) Didn’t you,
(Rakan) Have a ‘rival’‘s ass to kick for when you got stronger?

(Eva) Furthermore.

Page 3

(Eva) You certainly have,
(Eva) ‘Comrades’ who you yourself swore to protect even if you must risk your own life.
(Eva) Do you not?

(Nagi) And,

(Nagi) Don’t you have,
(Nagi) ‘Someone’ who you have risked your all to keep chasing?
(Nagi) Someone you kept looking for?

(Negi) ……
(Negi) Comrades…
(Negi) Someone I’ve…

(Negi) Been chasing after…?

Page 4 – 5

(Title) Period 314 – Rebirth
(Text) Don’t look back. Face forward, and move on. You have many comrades with you – !!!

(Negi) Fa…
(Negi) …ther…

(Nagi) Or not, huh? No, not just that – it’s sounding more like,
(Nagi) You’re following in my footsteps, and looking to surpass me.

(Negi) T-That’s…
(Eva) Heh…

(Eva) That’s right, boy.
(Eva) There is a path that he [jp. Nagi] did not walk… one that only you can walk.

(Eva) Set out on the grey path.

(Negi) Master…

(Negi) Become one who would move forward,
(Negi) Even after being stained with mud.
(Negi) …Was this what you meant?

(Eva) Go on. My disciple.

Page 6

(Nagi) Get going, Negi.
(Nagi) I’ll be waiting up ahead.

(Negi) ……!
(Negi) I’ll be going,
(Negi) Father!

(Dunamis) Sextum… the Averruncus of Water, in a single blow…
(Dunamis) No – even before that, you were invaded by demonic elements down to your very soul, how could you have recovered from that condition…

(Master) Or I will crush your core.
(Sextum) You…?!

(Dunamis) Master…
(Dunamis) Are you betraying us?!

(Chisame) Master…?!
(Chisame) That Grave Master guy?!

(Master) Betray?
(Master) …You wound me. I do not recall ever being your comrade.

Page 13

(Master) Does the boy not have a plan which can replace your scheme?
(Master) I would like to bet on the boy.

(Dunamis) …Ridiculous!

(Negi) ……

(Negi) …Are you,
(Negi) Mother’s…?
(Negi) Asuna-san’s…!

(Master) If you continue to be careless, everything will return to nothingness.
(Master) Go on.
(Master) My descendant.

    Eh, really?

    • If you mean “if he’s really looking at it”, then there’s that interview about J-Comi a few days ago (I think?) where he talked about English scanlations at one point. And the page looked awfully like Zasel’s release.

And yeah, it’s pretty surprising, personally.

      Comment by CanonRap — January 15, 2011 @ 1:19 am

      • Ahh… if it’s the recent chapters, I’m not surprised.

Maybe you can even ask him for clarification on terms! ww

      • That’s a scary thought ^^;;

  6. Awesomeness thanks for the trans as usual, though I’m pretty sure that Dynamis’s name had a y and that Tohsaka wwas spelt like this… but meh thanks…

    Comment by Khagrou — January 15, 2011 @ 4:32 pm

    • I hope I don’t have to repeat this too many times…

First, ‘Dynamis’ is pronounced ‘Dunamis’ (or dyu-na-mi-su, however accurate you prefer it). In the page his name was revealed, Nodoka sees “Dynamis” written on the page and calls him “Dunamis”. Dynamis is the Latinised form of the word. The reason I don’t use it is because the pronunciation can be easily confused. I’ve seen people assume that it’s pronounced like “dynamic”.

Akamatsu used the correct Japanese approximation to the actual Greek pronunciation. “Dunamis” is how he wants his main audience (the Japanese) to understand it.

And no, “Tohsaka” is written like that to avoid the double o’s – “to-o-sa-ka” which again, would be confusing to the average English speaker in terms of pronunciation. But that doesn’t matter, because his name really is “Tosaka”, or “Tosaca” as seen in-story.

      And @Evangeline: =)

  8. hahaha.. its confusing.. ( i mean the story not the translation :p)

  9. Thanks for the translation. Also I preferred gray on white, rather then gray on black for the website, it was easier to read.

    Comment by Rhonin the wizard — January 17, 2011 @ 1:42 pm

    • I wanted to try this for a while to see if white text on black would be a better contrast and so easier to see the smaller font.

      Comment by CanonRap — January 17, 2011 @ 6:35 pm

      • Keep the gray on black, although you could probably make the gray just a little lighter for a bit more contrast. White backgrounds are just so bland and sterile. Sucks the life right out of ya.

  11. Question: Gravemaster is kind of a pain for me to translate. Is she speaking in a more archaic dialect?
