“Just six more hours, boy!”
Well, the end is in sight for this mini training arc.
Showing off the new toys:
Sasaki Makie – Artifact #1
“The Unbounded Ribbon.”
Izumi Ako – Artifact
Bloody giant syringe.
(“Why am I the only one with something like this? What is it? Is it because I’m the health officer?”)
Akashi Yuuna – Artifact
“The Rainbow Gun.”
(Side note – Mei asks Takane if they should “say something” about Yuuna’s gun.)
Ako and Makie asks Akira why she didn’t Pactio with Negi; she didn’t want to interrupt the last stages of Negi’s training, even if it means problems later due to not having the Pactio’s extra protection.
Negi vs. Eva continues:
“Raiten Taisou, is it?
No amount of praise is enough for your new technique.
…it is meaningless if this great power is wielded with the heart of a beast.”
Negi’s epiphany begins:
“Power… the power I gained because I must fight him…!
I… want to beat him!
Of course… this is the power to beat the enemy into submission. The power of darkness! By itself, this is not enough… I know this isn’t good enough. There’s one other thing… one more thing I need!”
The fight continues. Mega Dunamene Negi is fast enough that he can aim directly for Eva’s blind spots and she can only counter – of course, this is more than enough an opening.
“Give it up, boy.
If you keep plunging forward without an answer, you won’t be able to return.”
Negi remembers the words of Asuna, Chisame, Satsuki, Eva herself, Rakan, Ako, Makie, and finally, Nagi:
“What’s the ‘enemy’?
What do I want to do with him?
…Yes, that’s right.
Negi starts going faster and faster, and even Eva herself can’t fully catch his Instant Movements anymore.
I knew, right from the beginning…!”
Negi and Eva both draw Ensis Exsequens…
The smoke clears:
“Well done, boy…
I might be a copy several times weaker than my original… but for you to land a hit on me…
You repressed your reckless rage for an instant only. It’s unfinished… and incomplete. The darkness may completely devour you once again at any moment.”
But Negi’s found his answer:
“I understand. It looks like it’ll be impossible for me to control this by myself. So I thought… I’ll only look forward.
If I do get swallowed by the darkness again, that’s something that’ll be dealt with then. I thought I’d ask everyone for help – if it’s the Ala Alba, I’m sure they’ll figure something out.”
(Chamo: So you’re just passing the ball to someone else…?)
“And… even if I do get swallowed by the darkness, all that’ll happen is that I’ll die or become demonic, right?
I think my chances of dying are low – I’m too well-suited for the darkness.
And even if I do become a demon… doesn’t that mean I’m just becoming the same as Master? It sounds okay to me.
I love my Master, after all.”
Even Eva is affected by the gigolo talk:
“Those words are four hundred years too early for a brat like you!!
You are forbidden from uttering these words to my original! Penalty for refusal is death!”
And finally, Negi’s answer:
…want to be friends with him.”
With Negi beginning to take on Messianic traits, I can honestly only see two futures for Fate right now: switch sides, or die redemptively.
On a different note, what Kotarou started about ten volumes ago about ‘stupidity’ is finally starting to come full circle.
PS: Kinda forgot the important part about the next chapter coming out on June 16th.
